Our first guest, Alexicia Sims, joined us to discuss the upcoming Juneteenth Parade taking place on Friday, June 19th. Alexia shared the significance of celebrating Juneteenth, the hard work that goes into organizing the parade, and how the community can come together to honor freedom, culture, and unity.

We also welcomed Rob Langford, who plays a key role in organizing the Black Men’s Wellness Day and Walk. Rob talked about the importance of health awareness, preventative care, and creating opportunities for Black men and families to focus on their physical and mental well-being.

In addition, we engaged in an important conversation about menstrual health, breaking down stigmas, promoting education, and highlighting why open discussions about women’s health are essential for healthier communities.

Rise & Grind Morning Show – Today’s Episode

🔥 TOLEDO, LABOR, LEADERSHIP & THE FUTURE OF OUR COMMUNITY!

Today on the Rise & Grind Morning Show, the crew welcomes Tony Toddy, President of UAW Local 14 and a candidate for UAW International Vice President, for a powerful conversation about the state of organized labor, Toledo’s automotive industry, and the future of good-paying jobs.

Tony opens up about nearly three decades in the UAW, the importance of protecting union jobs from automation, the role of unions in providing workers with job security, fair wages and dignity in the workplace, and why he believes Toledo’s rich labor history must be protected for future generations.

The conversation also goes beyond the workplace as Tony discusses his mentorship program for Toledo students, bringing professionals into schools to expose young people to career possibilities, financial education, travel and opportunities beyond Toledo. The group explores the idea of creating a Toledo Mentorship Summit to connect the many organizations and individuals already working with young people throughout the community.
The crew also talks about:
