FULL CIRCLE: THE 419 GRIND EXPERIENCES JEEP FEST FROM THE INSIDE

Published

From a first-time experience for some of our team to a full-circle moment for a former Jeep worker, Toledo Jeep Fest reminded us why community matters.

By Jesse Coleman | The 419 Grind

There are certain moments when you realize just how far you’ve come.

For me, experiencing Toledo Jeep Fest 2026 with The 419 Grind team was one of those moments.

What made this year’s Jeep Fest special wasn’t just the Jeeps, the parade, the crowds or the energy throughout downtown Toledo. It was being able to experience it together as a team — while representing The 419 Grind and celebrating a part of Toledo’s identity that has personally been a part of my life.

This experience came together thanks to an invitation from Toledo Jeep Fest Director Whitney Rofkar, who welcomed The 419 Grind to participate and provided us with complimentary tickets. We were also blessed with a sponsored Jeep from Yark Automotive, allowing our team to experience Jeep Fest from inside the action.

For The 419 Grind, it became much more than covering an event.

It became a memory.

A JEEP, A TEAM AND THE 419

The 419 Grind has always been about community.

We’ve spent years telling the stories of Toledo’s artists, entrepreneurs, athletes, businesses, families and organizations. We’ve watched this city grow, and we’ve had the privilege of growing right along with it.

Jeep Fest gave us another opportunity to connect with the community — but this time, we weren’t simply covering the event.

We were participants.

Our Weekend Show crew was there, including Ty Cleveland, Dr. LaDale and Cecil Holston, along with myself, Jesse Coleman, founder of The 419 Grind.

And everybody came away with a different perspective.

For some of us, it was our first Jeep Fest.

For others, it was a return to something familiar.

For me, it was both.

TY CLEVELAND: “IT FELT LIKE ONE BIG PARTY”

For Ty Cleveland, this year’s Jeep Fest was his first time attending.

And after experiencing it, he understood immediately what all the excitement was about.

“I really enjoyed Jeep Fest. It was my first time attending and it felt like one big party.”

But what stood out most to Ty wasn’t simply the number of Jeeps.

It was the people.

“No matter where you were from everyone showed each other love. To see everyone interacting with each other, giving compliments about each other’s Jeeps, it was a great time.”

That sense of community was everywhere.

People were checking out each other’s Jeeps, taking pictures, complimenting builds and simply enjoying being around people who shared the same passion.

And then came one of Ty’s favorite moments — the parade.

Ty had the opportunity to hand out rubber ducks to people along the parade route, something that became much more meaningful than simply passing out souvenirs.

“Seeing the kids faces light up when giving them a duck really made my day.”

Sometimes the smallest moments create the biggest memories.

For Ty, that was one of them.

And his verdict?

“I can’t wait until next year’s fest.”

DR. LADALE: “IT WAS A VIBE!!!”

For Dr. LaDale, Jeep Fest was also a first.

Her reaction summed up the energy of the entire weekend perfectly.

“This was my first year ever attending and participating in Jeep Fest. It was a vibe!!!”

The experience gave her an opportunity to see firsthand just how large and connected the Jeep community has become.

“So glad we participated, and definitely looking forward to next year already.”

What impressed her most was the sense of unity.

“It was amazing to see all the Jeep community come together from near and far and show nothing but love.”

That’s something that was impossible to miss.

People traveled from different cities, states and even countries to be in Toledo.

Different backgrounds.

Different Jeeps.

Different stories.

But for one weekend, they all had something in common.

And Toledo was the meeting place.

CECIL HOLSTON: SEEING JEEP FEST THROUGH A TOLEDO NATIVE’S EYES

Cecil Holston brought another unique perspective to the experience.

Cecil has lived in Toledo all his life, yet Jeep Fest was something he’d mostly heard about.

This year, he finally got the opportunity to experience it firsthand.

“I have lived in Toledo all my life and only heard about Jeep Fest. This year, I was able to attend and participate.”

And being there changed his perspective.

“After attending, I understood the importance of Jeep Fest.”

For Cecil, the most powerful part was seeing people from all over the world come to Toledo to celebrate Jeep.

“Being able to see all the people from different cities and countries coming together to show Toledo their love for our Jeep was amazing and inspiring.”

That’s what makes events like Jeep Fest so important.

It’s easy to look at an event from the outside and see the traffic, the crowds and all the Jeeps.

But when you’re actually there, you begin to understand the economic impact, the community pride and the connection it creates between Toledo and people from around the world.

Cecil got to see that firsthand.

FOR ME, IT WAS A FULL-CIRCLE MOMENT

Then there’s my story.

I’ve been connected to Jeep in a very different way.

I was once a Jeep worker.

I also attended the very first Toledo Jeep Fest.

So to come back years later as the founder of The 419 Grind, surrounded by members of our team, representing a media company that has grown alongside the Toledo community, was something I didn’t take for granted.

It was a full-circle moment.

I remember Jeep Fest from its early days.

And now, 10 years later, I was sitting inside a sponsored Jeep with my team, experiencing the event from a completely different perspective.

That’s powerful.

Because sometimes you don’t realize you’re witnessing your own journey until you look back.

The Jeep that brought us together this year wasn’t just a vehicle.

It represented history.

It represented Toledo.

It represented a company and industry that have played such an important role in this city’s story.

And for me personally, it represented a chapter of my own life.

To be able to celebrate Jeep, the City of Toledo and the growth of The 419 Grind in the community all at the same time was something special.

THANK YOU, WHITNEY

We want to give a special thank you to Whitney Rofkar, Director of Toledo Jeep Fest, for inviting The 419 Grind to be part of this year’s celebration and for giving our team the opportunity to experience Jeep Fest firsthand.

That invitation meant a lot.

It allowed us to do what we love — connect with people, create content, tell stories and celebrate Toledo — while being part of something much bigger than ourselves.

We also want to extend a huge thank you to Yark Automotive for sponsoring the Jeep that allowed The 419 Grind team to participate in the festivities.

Your support helped create an experience that our team won’t soon forget.

THIS IS WHAT THE 419 GRIND IS ABOUT

When we started The 419 Grind, the goal was always bigger than creating a media platform.

It was about creating a place where the people of Toledo could see themselves.

Where local stories mattered.

Where community mattered.

Where we could celebrate the people and organizations helping make the 419 what it is.

Jeep Fest gave us another opportunity to do exactly that.

We got to experience the excitement through Ty’s eyes.

We got to see the community through Dr. LaDale’s perspective.

We got to understand the significance of Jeep Fest through Cecil’s eyes.

And I got to experience something deeply personal — returning to an event I attended from the beginning, now as the founder of The 419 Grind and surrounded by a team that has become part of this journey.

That’s the beauty of community.

You never know where the journey is going to take you.

MORE THAN JEEPS

At the end of the weekend, we realized Jeep Fest isn’t really just about Jeeps.

It’s about people.

It’s about Toledo opening its doors and welcoming people from near and far.

It’s about families creating memories.

It’s about kids getting excited over a simple rubber duck.

It’s about strangers complimenting each other’s rides.

It’s about businesses supporting the community.

It’s about people traveling great distances because they love something — and choosing Toledo as the place to celebrate it.

And for us at The 419 Grind, it’s about being fortunate enough to be right in the middle of it.

From the first Jeep Fest to Jeep Fest 2026, I’ve had the opportunity to see the event evolve.

And now I get to watch The 419 Grind evolve right alongside it.

That’s full circle.

That’s Toledo.

That’s the 419.

And after the experience we had this year, one thing is certain:

The 419 Grind will definitely be back for the ride.

Until next year, Jeep Fest.
